Brought to you by Tony Award-winning artist Lin-Manuel Miranda, In The Heights tells the story of a close-knit Latino barrio, Washington Heights. Usnavi, our main character, dreams of returning home to the Dominican Republic. He runs the neighborhood bodega with his cousin, Sonny, hoping that one day Vanessa will notice him. Nina, a freshman at Stanford University, struggles to find her identity as a lower-class Latina. She develops an interest in her high school sweetheart, Benny, who is also one of her parent’s employees. When someone in the barrio unexpectedly wins the lottery, the characters are faced with decisions that could change their lives forever. In The Heights is a beautiful story that explores the importance of love, family, identity, and belonging.
